How we pack your order
When we first started shipping orders, we did what most small shops do: bought packaging from a wholesaler, slapped a sticker on it, and called it done. It worked, but it never felt like ours.
Why we changed it
Two reasons. First, opening a package is part of the product — and using generic mailers undercut everything else we cared about. Second, the off-the-shelf options were heavier and used more plastic than we were comfortable with. So we set ourselves a brief: lighter, recyclable, and pleasant to open.
What we ship in now
Outer mailers are made from FSC-certified recycled cardboard, kept slim to reduce shipping volume. Inside, items are wrapped in unbleached tissue and sealed with a paper-based sticker. There is no plastic anywhere in the box, including the tape — paper tape with a starch adhesive is the one swap that took longest to get right.
What's next
We are working on a take-back programme for returns and repairs so that packaging can be sent back to us and reused. If you have ideas — or if something arrived in less than perfect condition — write to us. Every email gets read.
